Books tagging has distinct separation of:

  1. Tree hierarchy, where each tag can appear as much as you want
  2. Book tagging, where (even if selected more then once) each word is saved only once.

Reserved Tags

  1. All Books will always show the entire library collection.
  2. Untagged shows only those books you haven’t tagged yet (look here for newly added books).

Logic

Each book tagged by a certain word (i.e.? Fishing) once.

For the following tags tree:

* Cool Things
** Fishing
** Math Tricks
* Hobbies
** Fishing
** Karate

Any book tagged by? Fishing will appear under all the? Fishing occurrences in the tree.

Another feature is the drill down tagging: When you select? Hobbies from the example above, all the books tagged with? Hobbies,? Fishing and? Karate will be shown in the main screen.

Tagging a book

Drag and drop books from the book list panel to the tags tree, the selected tag will be marked green.
Untag by right clicking on books and choosing? Remove Tag: … to remove that tag. (Note, since books are displayed via drill down on the tags tree, the? Remove Tag might not work, since the book is tagged by an child node).
For a detailed tagging, double click on the book, and then check/uncheck desired tags on the bottom right pannel. Press? Update to update the book’s tags.

Editing the Tree

Tags Configuration Form

Configuring is done via? Library->Configure Tags

  • Select a tag by left clicking on it.
  • Pressing? Add Tag will add a child tag under the currently selected one.
  • Pressing? Move Up or? Move Down will move the selected tag up or down respectively (under the same node level).
  • To change a tags name left click on it, the tags text will load to the text box on the top right corner. Change the text and press? Update Tag to change the tags name.
  • Remove Tag will delete the currently selected tag.

Note: Changing a tags name DOES NOT affect books marked by this tag. Best practice for renaming a currently used tag is to create the new tag, go back to the main screen and select the old tag. Drag all the books to the new tag, and only then go back and remove the old tag.
Press? Save to keep your changes.

Manual Edit

To manually change the tags tree edit the TagsTree.xml file under your USERPROFILE\eLibrary directory.

Note: always backup your xml file before manually changing it. If you forgot to backup and the application crashes when you start it, just delete the file and it will be restored to the default that comes with the installation.
